Economic Equity at Weaving Fala is about more than business. It is about creating opportunities where culture, history, and entrepreneurship meet. Through projects like MUGS Coffee House and youth-led ventures, we are building pathways for Black, Brown, and immigrant families to share their stories, grow their skills, and create sustainable income for generations to come.

Every business we support carries a piece of our community’s history. From the African roots of coffee told at MUGS, to Polynesian designs at Salakaia’s Threadz, to locally inspired jewelry at Kindred Charms, and even the joy of Saint’s Shave Ice at community events, each venture is a reflection of identity, resilience, and pride.

This work is about honoring where we come from while creating a future where every family has the tools and support to thrive.

Rooted in culture and brewed for community, MUGS is more than a café. It is a cultural bridge that honors the African origins of coffee and the stories behind every cup. Reimagined in 2025 as part of Weaving Fala’s Economic Equity work, MUGS is a gathering place where truth, history, and connection are served alongside locally crafted drinks and food.

Kindred Charms is a handmade jewelry brand created by Hannah, featuring earrings and accessories inspired by the textures, colors, and stories of our land and culture. Each piece is crafted with care and are locally sourced beads and materials. Through Kindred Charms, Hannah is not only sharing her art but also helping teach young leaders how to build, own, and reinvest in their community through entrepreneurship.

Salakaia’s Threadz is a clothing brand rooted in Polynesian and Pacific Islander design. Founded by Joshua, each piece is stitched with intention, carrying the patterns, colors, and meaning of his heritage. More than fashion, it is a statement of identity and pride. Through his work, Joshua also mentors youth and teaches financial skills, showing the next generation how to own, build, and sustain their dreams.
