Kids explore cultures from around the world through stories, food, music, and hands-on activities. Each session is led by community members who share their traditions, helping kids build understanding and appreciation for different cultures. Students collect passport stamps as they learn, making each journey fun and memorable!
One of the many fun cultural activities we did in the young World Travelers Club was create candy leis. Each participant got to make their own candy lei to take home and were encourage to follow Polynesian tradition of gifting it to a loved one to show them honor and respect.
Preparing, helping cook, and tasting cultural foods was a very popular activity amongst the Young World Traveler's Club participants. During our time together, participants got to experience and learn about a variety of cultural foods such as homemade tortillas (pictured), Otai, Gelato, and Lumpia.
Middle schoolers build confidence, leadership skills, and community connections through hands-on activities, discussions, and mentorship. With the support of facilitators and community leaders, students develop their voices, learn teamwork, and gain the tools to make a difference.
During our first meeting as a group, participants worked to establish group values and design a poster to hang up during our meetings together to remember them. It is important to Weaving Fala to foster safe and confident spaces for participants to be themselves, while also fostering a space of respect and compassion for one another.
It is important to Weaving Fala to provide opportunities to the youth to get into the community, face challenges, and enjoy what the world has to offer. During our Spring '25 program, Rising Leaders participants got to go to the AAYLC Conference, do an escape room together, as well as go to the aquarium.
Weaving Fala is an ever growing community as we are still getting the numbers together to hold a high school group- where high school students take their leadership to the next level through mentorship, real-world projects, and community engagement. This program helps students build confidence, develop skills, and create meaningful change in their schools and beyond. Register for updates regarding pilot launch.
