Weaving Wisdom

A place to be heard, get help, and learn your options

Advocacy Support is here for youth and families who need help navigating difficult situations. Whether something is happening at school, in your community, or in a system that feels confusing or unfair, we will walk alongside you and help you figure out what to do next.

You can request help with things like school meetings, communication with teachers or staff, understanding your rights, or making a plan that fits your needs. Support can be one-on-one or include your family or community members.

In addition to direct support, we also offer group workshops through Weaving Wisdom where youth and families can learn about things like boundaries, speaking up, and navigating systems together.

Meet our Advocacy Specialist

Heather brings 15 years of experience guiding cross-cultural conversations and leading equity work in schools, faith communities, and community organizations. She has deep roots in the Linn–Benton area and trusted relationships with families, schools, and local leaders.

Before joining Weaving Fala, Heather served as a pastor at The Grove, where she led community discussions on inclusion and organized service projects that brought diverse neighbors together. She also coordinated the Student Advocacy Program with Kids for the Culture, working closely with local school districts to support Black, Brown, and immigrant students and families facing racism or bias. In that role, she co-led Black Student Unions and helped parents and students learn to use their voices for change.

Heather’s volunteer and advisory work includes the Oregon Black Youth Suicide Prevention Coalition, the Regional Racial Equity Group, and serving as Education Committee Chair for the Linn-Benton NAACP. She is also a member of the Albany Police Department Diversity Advisory Team.

At Weaving Fala, Heather supports youth and families by helping them navigate challenges, understand their rights, and speak up with confidence. She combines compassion, cultural understanding, and strong community connections to make sure no one has to face difficult situations alone.
